About the area

What Fuquay-Varina Is Like

Around 1858, Stephen Fuquay found a mineral spring here that people believed had healing water, and the area grew into a resort with hotels and train excursions from Raleigh. Fuquay Springs was incorporated in 1909 and merged with neighboring Varina in 1963.

Fuquay Mineral Spring is still in a small town park and is on the National Register. Downtown hosts the Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival every October, Thursday evening concerts in spring and fall, and First Friday every month.
